While there is a tendency to prioritize production efficiency and costs, there are also designers who are not bound by such things, and who design based on values that go against that tendency. In this symposium, we will consider the role of design and the creation of products with diverse people through such approach to design.
The event is organized by TOKYO SOCIAL DESIGN, a voluntary organization that mainly consists of designers and illustrators who do design work in the field of welfare for people with disabilities.
The guests appearing this time are Postalco, known for its one-of-a-kind products that prioritize user convenience and are born from unique, thorough research and a commitment to materials; HUMORABO, which has been creating a succession of attractive products with branding that makes the most of the power of design under the theme of "playing with welfare;" and product designer Takahashi Koji, who is currently based in Tokoname and has begun working on projects at welfare facilities. We will hear about each of their approaches to design and what they value most, and after exchanging opinions with visitors, there will be a networking session. Why not take a moment to think about what is needed for a better future, and what human-centered design is? We look forward to your participation.
