In 2026, the Kintayama Kiln, a Kutaniyaki pottery studio in Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, celebrated the 120th anniversary of its founding. Since the first-generation founder, Shōsaku Yoshida, established the kiln in Takadō-chō, the studio has specialized in Kutaniyaki overglaze decoration and has carried on a diverse range of techniques centered on gold decoration. The third-generation master, Yoshida Mitsunori, perfected the "underglaze gold decoration" technique, and the current head of the family, the fourth-generation Yoshida Yukio, is pursuing unprecedented forms of expression by blending modern sensibilities with these time-honored techniques.

This exhibition, "Tan ASHITA" - YOSHITA Yukio Exhibition -, is a special exhibition that not only captures the history of the Kinzan Kiln and its vision for the next century but also traces Yukio Yoshida's artistic journey and current creative direction. The exhibition features the "KINZAN" series, which adapts traditional Kinrande and gold-decoration techniques for contemporary living; new forms of expression utilizing the "Tomonami" system, developed in collaboration with Sony CSL researcher Alexei Andre; and collaborative works created during a residency with musician, poet, and tagging artist Enjo Yamazaki. The exhibition presents the possibilities of craftsmanship in a new era, born from the intersection of technology and skilled craftsmanship, as well as tradition and modernity.
