"Dry lacquer" is a lacquer technique represented by the Ashura statue.
Since the method is to paste linen cloth on the mold, harden it with lacquer, and remove the mold, it is possible to intentionally mold it unlike the potter's wheel molding.
While there are many object writers with impressive unique forms, Katsuji Kamata is working on making vessels that are simple and make the most of their lightness.
At this exhibition, we present a range of works featuring free and creative designs in various shapes and sizes, suitable for everyone from professional chefs to everyday home use. Highlights include the "uneri bowls" and high-footed bowls finished entirely with a stone-textured surface. We also invite you to enjoy a special collaboration: pieces in which maki-e artist Naomi has decorated sake pourers and cups created by Kamata.
