This is a solo exhibition by Yukie Wakabayashi, an artist who creates hand-carved wooden vessels.
Her works are formed through the primitive yet deeply expressive process of hollowing out solid blocks of hardwood--such as chestnut and katsura--entirely by hand. Through this process, her pieces carry a quiet strength that endures beyond time. As they are used in daily life, they gradually evolve, deepening their character alongside the passage of time.

Lacquerware also reveals its beauty through use. With time, a gentle sheen emerges, and a sense of attachment naturally grows. While signs of age may sometimes appear, a touch of care can restore renewed brilliance, allowing each piece to continue accompanying its owner through life.
In this way, these vessels move back and forth between maker and user, remaining long-lasting companions over time.

This exhibition features primarily hand-carved vessels, along with wheel-thrown bowls with painted decoration and lidded pieces. We warmly invite you to visit.
