Yoko Motoki's works are created using the sandblasting technique, in which a design is transferred onto a base overlaid with a layer of white glass, and all of the surrounding areas are meticulously carved away.
Delicately engraved motifs are then enhanced with layers of enamel, bringing to life animals and plants rendered with gentle, translucent brushstrokes.
In this exhibition, a wide variety of creatures--such as wisteria-themed vases, peony bowls, treasure-motif bowls, and charming puppies--are expressed through the harmonious combination of sandblasting and enamel painting.
We invite you to experience these glass paintings, which possess the refined elegance of traditional Japanese-style art, when you visit the exhibition.
