Hiroaki Yazawa was born and raised in Kamakura and has been familiar with lacquerware since he was a child.
Based on the idea that lacquerware is a "tool to be used," he carefully applies the lacquer, while taking advantage of the characteristics of each type of wood.
His works are made by carving out pieces of wood and shaping them, giving them a finish that is characterized by the traces of his handwork. While incorporating decorative elements such as silver and tin, he strives to create lacquerware that allows us to feel the warmth and texture of wood.
This exhibition will feature bowls, plates, sake cups, trays, bento lunch boxes, and more. Please enjoy the various works that closely accompany us in our daily lives.
