"Dry lacquer" is a lacquer technique represented by the Ashura statue.
Since the method is to paste linen cloth on the mold, harden it with lacquer, and remove the mold, it is possible to intentionally mold it unlike the potter's wheel molding.
While there are many object writers with impressive unique forms, Katsuji Kamata is working on making vessels that are simple and make the most of their lightness. Aiming for an organic and well-fitting shape, the prototype is made from pottery.
"Since the Noto Peninsula earthquake on January 1, I have received support from many people, including customers who like my tableware, galleries, Kijiya (woodturners), and fellow craftsmen.
I believe that the tableware being exhibited this time is finished with the warm feelings of such people.
Please take a look at our progress over the past six months." ーKatsuji Kamata
