Kenji Gomi "grounded"

The word "grounded" means things like "stable" and "down to earth." I've built up my own portfolio steadily over time, and I like how this word plainly expresses both my works themselves and the impression I get from them. With that in mind, I chose it as the title for this solo exhibition based on a sense that it was like a table of contents for my own history in ceramics.
As long as time allows me to, I want to create a wide variety of works ranging from ones that are taller than me to ones that fit in the palm of your hand. When I'm creating my works, I feel a strong imperative to make sure they're beautifully fired ceramic pieces with a wonderfully relaxed vibe.
I grit my teeth and think, "If only I can create a work like that!"
