"Dry lacquer" is a lacquer technique represented by the Ashura statue.
Since the method is to paste linen cloth on the mold, harden it with lacquer, and remove the mold, it is possible to intentionally mold it unlike the potter's wheel molding.
While there are many object writers with impressive unique forms, Katsuji Kamada is working on making vessels that are simple and make the most of their lightness. Aiming for an organic and well-fitting shape, the prototype is made from pottery.
Mr. Kamada has always been interested in traditional Japanese kaiseki cuisine, but recently he seems to have received many requests for vessels from professional cooks. An increasing number of vessels are born from direct communication with cooks, such as folding mats, lids, and vessels that match dishes.
In addition, new works by Kataguchi and Guinomi in collaboration with Maki-e artist's wife, Naomi, will continue to be exhibited.
